Mostly posts from Seoul, some new stuff, nothing interesting

Hi

Wednesday, June 26, 2002. 929pm. Seoul, Korea.
today, i went to myong-dong and hung out at the starbucks there. i sat on the second floor near the window, drinking my caramel frappuccino and writing a letter. occasionally, i glanced out the window at the human stream below. however, since it was only about 430 in the afternoon, there was none of the energy that the evening brings. i've been to myong-dong before, at night and it's truly insane. but this afternoon, as i looked out, i thought that people watchers would really get a kick out of seoul. after all, there are so many different groups of people milling around. today, i saw college students, high school students still in their uniforms, older women, few families, young men fulfilling their military obligation in the police department, foreigners, some people trying to interview those foreigners, and little old ladies trying to witness. whenever i passed by those "interviews", i had to smirk. sorry, but it's kind of funny seeing the confused looks on the faces of the foreigners as they tried to understand the english spoken by the interviewers and not all the foreigners were white. i knew that i would never be confused for a foreigner until i opened my mouth. it's weird, but i could order a frappuccino like i do at home, and get blank looks so i have to try and sound more korean, i.e. i have to read what's written in korean. that's pretty hard to do, especially since i know how it's really pronounced. right now, i'm taking a little break from writing even more letters. this is something that i do at intervals, but since i don't really have that many addresses, some people will be getting quite a few letters this summer from south korea. ^ ^
yeah, i know that thing looks kind of fobby. but don't worry, i'm not a fob. i have my music to help prevent that, so if you can send me some more mp3's, that would be greatly appreciated! my AIM SN is banana81anner and i'm usually online when it's either morning or late evening in the US. sigh...can you tell i'm getting a bit desperate?
