soccer is a dangerous sport. i know that most people don't think it is, i certainly thought hockey was a dangerous sport, where it almost seemed to be a requirement for a fight to break out. however, i've seen a couple of matches where two guys collide and one comes out bleeding. also, one must take into consideration how fast these guys are running around the pitch. when one guy decides to tackle another guy (yes, they do tackle each other in soccer, it's different from tackles in american football, though), that guy that is being tackled goes flying because of momentum. also, these guys tend to pull on each others' shirts in an effort to slow the other person down, even though that is not allowed. sometimes, some players get really dirty and practically assault their opponents. like in the korea vs. italy match last night, vieri flips over choi jin cheul. he literally flips him and he doesn't get called. lots of soccer players end up with pulled muscles, sprained ankles, pulled tendons, and whatnot, which isn't surprising. on the other hand, soccer players are really fit, as are all other athletes. i mean, they have to run for about 90+ minutes per match and sometimes even up to 120 minutes if they go into extra time. that's pretty hardcore. i can't even run 10 minutes.
