Friday, May 24, 2002. 1116am. Seoul, Korea.
here's a funny/creepy story. i got so bored yesterday i decided to amuse myself by playing online checkers through yahoo!. now that's all well and good and i started playing with some guy and i was winning but since i ended up just chasing him around, we ended in a draw. but that's not all. we were talking thoughout the game and he seemed like a nice enough guy, although i was surprised someone was online at that time (530p here around 330a in the states). turns out, he's from new zealand. so, we were talking and then he asks me how old i am and asks for my description. i give him the basic details and he describes himself. i'm thinking, "umm...what if this guy is some sort of perv?" he knows i'm in korea because i told him i was surprised that someone was online at such a late hour. when he told me it was only around 8p in new zealand, i explained that it was around 530p here. he has t leave for awhile and asks if i'll still be online in about 30 minutes. i told him maybe, because i wasn't sure how long i was going to be on. after he left, i played checkers with a few other people and this guys from virginia, who had just gotten back from his girlfriend's place and couldn't sleep. while we were playing, the guy from new zealand returns and is observing the game and he asks who's winning. i told him it was the close game, my opponent told him that i was winning and the nz guy tells the other guy that i'm good (which all feeds my heart motive). then the va guy asks the nz guy if he knows me and the nz guy tells the other guy that we've met (online, like 30 minutes ago). after i beat the va guy, he wants to keep playing so he could beat me. the nz guy wants to play with me again, so he sets up a table and waits, even booting a couple people off (hehe). well, i beat the va guy again and he wants to play one more time (guys can't accept defeat at the hands of a girl very gracefully, even though he was pretty nice about it). because i feel bad about making the nz guy wait, i start that game with him while playing against the va guy. i beat the va guy and he leaves but the nz guy is beating me. he calls a draw, even though he could have won, and says that he doesn't care. so we play another round and we're talking again. this time, he asks me if i'm in korea with my boyfriend. i told him i never had one and he asks if i'm picky. then he tells me he broke up with his girlfriend about 6 months ago and they were dating since they were 16 (he's a 25 year old policeman, if i can believe him). i offer him sympathy and he tells me that it's ok. he has plenty of time before settling down and he wants to travel around the world. when he says that, he adds, "maybe korea?" i give him an ambiguous smile :)
he told me he enjoys being a police officer and i told him that's good because i feel bad for people who end up doing things that they don't enjoy. he kinda laughs and says that sleeping with someone is enjoyable (he and his girlfriend lived together for 5 years), then he apologizes. i don't have anything to say, so i don't say anything. he tells me that i seem nice and that guys in the US must be blind. after he beats me, he leaves saying he has an early start the next day. i'm glad to leave, too. i was starting to feel a bit weird. so, i guess i won't be playing checkers for awhile, or else i'll log in other another screen name. :D
